Upon graduation from Smith College as a biology major in 1962, I worked at Rockefeller University in NYC until 1964. I then got a wonderful job working on exhibits at The American Museum of Natural History in NYC. In 1964 I married my first husband, had my son Peter in 1966, and was divorced in 1968. I went back to work at the museum and married Norman in 1971. For years after that, until 1988 when we retired, I worked with Norman in Englewood at our business, Greenspan's Kosher Meats on Palisade Avenue (if anyone remembers). In addition I had my own catering business.
From the early 80's we visited northern Nevada (Lake Tahoe, Reno, Carson City) many times because my stepsons lived here. We finally moved to Carson City in 1994.
In 2001, we decided to open our lamp repair business, Lamp Doctor. We work out of the house and that makes our life very flexible. We restore antique lamps, chandeliers and other fixtures in addition to repairing newer ones.
Our 8 grandkids are spread all over the country, including the oldest one (24) in the Navy stationed in Japan. The 3 youngest ones, my son's children, live in Florida.
Being retired in the west is like a dream. The beauty surrounding us is breathtaking. We have never regretted moving away from NJ--its a different world out here.
