Hi, my name is Jackie Jasper Smith and I would like to thank Jon Bittmann and the rest of my graduating classmates. I will not be able to attend the reunion. However, I will be there in spirit. To my recollection, the graduation class of 1958 was the best class to ever graduate from DMHS
After graduation, l acquired a job at the Ford Motor Company, Mahwah, NJ. In 1963 I was drafted into the army. Did my training at Fort Dix, NJ, and on Christmas, 1963 I was on a crowded troop ship somewhere on the Atlantic Ocean, heading to Germany.

I spent eighteen months in Germany, driving an armored personnel carrier. In August, 1965 I endured another cruise on a crowded troop ship. However, this cruise was not depressing, because we were heading home.

Returned at work at Ford until 1969, when I joined The Englewood Police department. I received my training at The State Police Academy, in Sea Girt, NJ. I married my beautiful wife, Barbara Bullock, from Teaneck, NJ in 1975. On August 12, 1978, Barbara and I were blessed with a beautiful baby girl, Jacqueline Deloris Smith. When I first saw her, I bonded with her immediately, just like all parents. Jacqueline is the light of our lives and has never disappointed us. She was accepted into a prestigious prep school, The Blair Academy, located in Blairstown, N.J. and went on to Syracuse University where she earned her bachelor and master's degrees. Jacqueline has returned to Syracuse and is a doctoral candidate specializing in health policy.

I was promoted to detective in 1981 and retired from the department in 1994. Now I am a happily retired person who does not know what to with himself. In 1997, my wife, daughter and I decide that because my legs were becoming weak from what, I do not know a move to a warmer climate was a good idea. After making arrangements with a real estate agent, I sent my wife and daughter to Orlando, Florida to find a home. They found our home in a new sub-division called Hunters Glenn, eighty homes built around a lake and surrounded by woods on three sides. I call it Eden
