Before completing 10th grade, I left DMHS to marry Bob Noreika and raise a family. Our marriage of 13-1/2 years saw many difficult times, but produced three wonderful children, Deborah (51), Robert (50) and Sherry (46). In 1966 we relocated to CT and attempted to start a new life, but by 1969 we finally divorced.

Less than a year after the divorce, I remarried. This second marriage lasted 7-1/2 years, during which time I completed four years of college. I received my BBA the same year my son graduated from high school, and began working at Ethan Allen headquarters in Danbury as an accountant.

I left marriage #2 with two houses and my maiden name. I continued to work at Ethan Allen, and became financially independent for the first time in my life. It felt good.

Work, home, kids and the singles scene kept me occupied during those years. I was engaged to be married for the third time but, fortunately, what was an extremely volatile relationship ended before it came to that.

It was at a singles function held by a Unitarian Church that I met Tom Bradley, who was to become (and still is) my significant other. Tom and I have been together for over twenty years.

My life has been very full. I've traveled to London, Paris, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and numerous Caribbean Islands, Yellowstone National Park, Mount Rushmore, the Badlands and Florida's many attractions. I also make frequent family visits to Texas, Illinois and Vermont.

My three children have given me seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.

I've been battling lung cancer since being diagnosed in July 2006. Knowing the prognosis and enduring treatment with chemo and steroids has been quite a journey. Off steroids now (thank goodness), I feel life has been good to me,and I will leave it with no regrets.

Madeleine was smart, incredibly and incurably practical, resilient, kind, beautiful, and above all, a terrific, loving mother to her 3 children.  She was a dear and loyal friend to me, a fiercely devoted sister, and a loving companion to her partner, Tom, that wonderful guy who I can only say was the absolute "right one" for her, finally.

Back in our teen years, Madeleine and Mary Louise were part of my family, frequent visitors known and loved by my parents and sibs who, inexplicably to me, often had trouble telling them apart. We were a threesome. When it came to the twins, as it says in the Sinatra song, "you can't have one without the other," nor did I ever want to. But then, unexpectedly, in our sophomore year at DMHS, everything changed and our threesome became a twosome as Madeline became a mother and homemaker, taking a dramatically different path from that of her twin and I. I've always felt sad about the fact that she wasn't able to join us as we embraced high school life. Still our bond remained, as it has to this day. While geographically apart, "The Twins" remained inseparable, even closer than in the early years, once they no longer had a need to fight for their individual identities. And we three were always in touch over the years, visiting frequently and often writing or phoning.  Saying good bye to one of my dearest, oldest friends is like saying good bye to a little bit of myself.

She was one extraordinary lady, one good woman, one dear friend. I will miss her always.
