I have unusual memories of Stan Hill! I remember him as being on the track team, and while I couldn't run for brass marbles, I sure could cheer the track team on. But my real memory is when I was taking HOME EC classes and we had to take a turn in SHOP class! Poor Stan was given the job of teaching me to use the lathe to make a salad bowl. With kindness, patience, and great restraint, he tried. What a dear person he was! I don't know if I ever finished that salad bowl, but I truly valued the friendship with Stan.

One goes through life meeting many wonderful people and friends but there are always one or two who stand out from everyone you have met. This type of person has qualities above and beyond the others. For me Stanley was that type of person. He was the type of guy that if I was in fox hole and had to have someone to watch my back Stanley would be my first choice. He was strong, committed to his friends and a formidable opponent to those who were foolish enough to attack him.

I miss Stanley and regret his life was cut short. I did not have enough time with him after high school because we lived our adult lives in different parts of the country.

I hope that many of our classmates got a chance to know Stanley because if you did not you missed out on knowing a great man.

Stanley, my brother, I miss you .

Stanley Hill. I remember you well. I remember meeting you on my first day at DMHS. I met a host of other students as well. However, as I remember, you stood apart. Everyone that I met on that first day, were nice, but you seemed to exude instant comraderie. You were not not only a great athlete, you were a good friend.

I too, will miss my brother.
